The Big Apple: Food for Thought

posted by Liz

"When a recent Pew Research poll asked Americans about different cities and whether or not they'd like to live there, 45 percent of the people under 35 said they'd like to live in New York. So if you're already here, roughly half of young America would happily switch places with you right now."

"[In New York] I wasn't steering anything, not even myself. I just bumped from my hotel to work and to parties and from parties to my hotel and back to work like a numb trolley bus. I guess I should have been excited the way most the other girls were, but I couldn't get myself to react. I felt very still and very empty, the way the eye of a tornado must feel, moving dully along in the middle of the surrounding hullabaloo."

  1. Last week, while waiting for a boy to get ready to go out, i sat in his living room, and picked up the bell jar. I read about 10 or so pages. it was interesting, i guess that paragraph probably encapsulates the entire feeling of the book. maybe. i think it would make me too depressed to read the whole book.

It happened again tonight. "I can't stay, i have to work." this time i said "it's not fair that you stay when you want to, and not when i want you to." He said "i promise next time ill stay when you want me to."

I'll either 1. Pick a super inconvenient night for him to have to stay over. And keep him up late..
or 2. Never let him stay again...
Eh, now that I'm thinking about it, i guess i don't have the energy for either.

That song came on the radio yesterday. This week, I like this line.

"Love won't play any games with me anymore like she did before."
